Many mourners and friends attended the funeral of Mr Reuben James Carter, well-known resident of Paulton, which took place at the Holy Trinity Church, Paulton, the Rev. J. A. Beazor (vicar) officiating.

For a period of 26 years the deceased was the licensee of the Britannia Inn, Paulton. previous to which he was engaged in business as a farmer and dealer for a number of years, and was held in high regard in agricultural circles throughout the district.

At the funeral service Mr R. Gibbs was at the organ. The interment was at the Paulton cemetery.

The chief mourners were Messrs Charley and Wilfred George Carter, (sons), Mr Reuben Carter (grandson), Mr Reg Ashman, Mr E. Cleaves (sons-in-law), Mr Alan Curtis, Mr J. Banfield Mr C. Simmons (cousins), Mr Fred Padfield and other friends and business associates, including Messrs Percy Adams, E. Elliott, C. Williams. W. D. Butler, E. Harrington, H Emm, J. Bailey, T. Watts, E. Ford, J. Church and John Carter.

Mr. S. Harding (son-in-law), of Brighton, was unable to attend through indisposition.

The bearers were Messrs J. Dando, J. Pow, L Banfield and H Evans and H. J. Tucker, of Paulton, was undertaker.
